Very expected game when 11th ranked Battipaglia (3-14) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Umbertide (7-10) 73-67 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 6 points. American guard Antiesha Brown (178-92, college: N.Mexico) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Greek forward Katerina Sotiriou (186-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Battipaglia players scored in double figures. Umbertide maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Battipaglia lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Umbertide will face higher ranked Ragusa (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Battipaglia will play against Vigarano (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
