Regular Season Round 18: Oviedo - GDKO Bizkaia 82-73

There was an upset when higher ranked GDKO Bizkaia (9-9) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Oviedo (7-11) 82-73 on Sunday. GDKO Bizkaia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Oviedo made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 GDKO Bizkaia turnovers. GDKO Bizkaia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds. Canadian guard Mariah Nunes (178-93, college: Ryerson) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Oviedo players scored in double figures. Center Miren Agirregoikoa (192-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Ainara Ramasco (172-89) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for GDKO Bizkaia. GDKO Bizkaia's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oviedo have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place in Group A, which they share with RC Celta and Ensino. Loser GDKO Bizkaia keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Oviedo will face league's leader Aros Leon on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
