Second Stage Round 12: BJBS Riga - VEF skola 75-88

Bottom-ranked BJBS Riga (0-10) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to fifteenth ranked VEF skola (8-4) 88-75 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by VEF skola. BJBS Riga managed to win fourth quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VEF skola dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to BJBS Riga's 28. They outrebounded BJBS Riga 51-32 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for VEF skola especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Oskars Hlebovickis (197-0) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Nikolajs Zotovs (182-98) chipped in 22 points and 4 steals. VEF skola's coach let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Aivars Dambis (183-0) who recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and guard Ingus Lapans (196-98) added 20 points respectively. Four VEF skola and five BJBS Riga players scored in double figures. VEF skola have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with DSN/SB. Loser BJBS Riga still closes the standings with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
