Regular Season Round 20: Napoli Cuore - Barcellona 90-76

Rather predictable result when first ranked Napoli Cuore (19-2) defeated at home 5th ranked Basket Barcellona (13-6) 90-76 on Sunday. Napoli Cuore made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Basket Barcellona was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Roberto Maggio (183-90) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Ferdinando Matrone (202-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Napoli Cuore players scored in double figures. Napoli Cuore's coach Ciccio Ponticiello allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Daniele Grilli (191-87) responded with 30 points and power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Newly promoted Napoli Cuore maintains first position in B with 19-2 record. Loser Basket Barcellona keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Napoli Cuore will face Cefalu (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Basket Barcellona will play against Forli Tigers (#8) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
