Regular Season Round 21: Chieti - Udine APU 81-70

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Chieti (7-13) won against at home higher ranked Udine APU (10-11) 81-70 on Sunday. Chieti made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Chieti outrebounded Udine APU 38-19 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Udine APU's players. It was a good game for point guard Mattia Venucci (185-90) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 7 assists. American guard Trae Golden (188-91, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Chieti players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Andrea Traini (180-92) added 7 points in the effort for Udine APU. Udine APU's coach Lino Lardo tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chieti maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 7-13 record. Newly promoted Udine APU keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Chieti will face league's second-placed Virtus Bologna at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
