Regular Season Round 18: Fanola SML - Civitanova 36-37

A very close game took place in San Martino di L between Civitanova and Fanola SML. Fourth ranked Civitanova (12-5) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Fanola SML (8-9). Civitanova managed to escape with a 1-point win 37-36 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fanola SML won fourth quarter 10-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Civitanova dominated on the defensive end, holding Fanola SML to just 7 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Kristina Ostojic (190-91) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Giorgia Bocola (180-0) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Jasmine Keys (190-97) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and point guard Elena Fietta (172-95) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Civitanova maintains fourth position in A2 with 12-5 record. Newly promoted Fanola SML keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Civitanova will meet higher ranked Marghera (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Fanola SML will play against the league's leader Bologna (#1) and hope to secure a win.
