Regular Season Round 19: Calvia - Mataro 66-59

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Mataro (4-12) was defeated on the road by first ranked Calvia (12-4) 66-59 on Sunday. Mataro was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Mataro was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Jose-Maria Morales (205-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Bernardo Garcia (183-92) helped adding 15 points. Four Calvia players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Santiago Serrataco (187-90) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Saikou Diallo (-98) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mataro's coach Charly Giralt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Calvia. Newly promoted Calvia maintains first place in Group C-A with 12-4 record, which they share with Martorell. Mataro at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Calvia will face Barna (#11) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mataro will play at home against Cornella and hope to win that game.
