Regular Season Round 8: Aspac - CLS Knights 49-77
Date: February 12, 2017
The biggest surprise of round 8 in IBL was guest CLS Knights' (5-1) easy road victory over second-ranked Aspac (4-2) 77-49 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Aspac. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. CLS Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jamarr Johnson (193-88, college: Widener) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Sandy Febiansyakh (190-86) chipped in 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American forward Pierre Henderson-Niles (203-87, college: Memphis) produced 4 points and 9 rebounds and center Anthony Hangrove (200-89) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CLS Knights have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Aspac at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Garuda. CLS Knights will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aspac will play at home against Hang Tuah and is hoping to win this game.
