Regular Season Round 21: Mens Sana 1871 - Agrigento 79-72

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Mens Sana 1871 (12-9) beat 5th ranked Agrigento (12-9) in Siena 79-72 on Sunday. It was a good game for naturalized Brazilian Jonathan Tavernari (197-87, college: BYU) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Mike Myers (206-92, college: Md-E Shore) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Mens Sana 1871's coach Giulio Griccioli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Damen Bell-Holter (206-90, college: ORU) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import swingman Perrin Buford (198-94, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Agrigento. Four Agrigento players scored in double figures. Mens Sana 1871 moved-up to sixth place in A2. Mens Sana 1871 will face higher ranked Legnano (#4) in Castellanza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Agrigento will play on the road against Novipiu Casale and hope to win that game.
