Regular Season Round 27: El Jaysh - Al Ahli 103-73

Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: El Jaysh (#1) and Al Ahli (#5). El Jaysh (15-0) crushed visiting Al Ahli (5-10) by 30 points 103-73. The game without a history. El Jaysh led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Al Ahli's 22 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. El Jaysh forced 21 Al Ahli turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) accounted for 23 points and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four El Jaysh players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) came up with 25 points and Ndoye Seydou-Elhadj added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Al Ahli in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for El Jaysh. They maintain first place with 15-0 record. Loser Al Ahli dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
