Very important is a home loss of second ranked Familia Schio (14-3) against fifth ranked San Martino (12-5) on Sunday night. Host Familia Schio was defeated by San Martino in a tough game in Schio 65-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Familia Schio. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But Familia Schio won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Jasmine Bailey (176-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Lithuanian Egle Sulciute (190-85) accounted for 18 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Giorgia Sottana (178-88, agency: Two Points) came up with 12 points and the former international forward Laura Macchi (188-79) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for Familia Schio in the defeat. Familia Schio's coach Miguel Mendez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for San Martino. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Napoli. Defending champion Familia Schio dropped to the third position with three games lost. San Martino will play against Torino (#8) at home in the next round. Familia Schio will play against Napoli (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
