The game in Canberra supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked Bendigo Spirit (11-11) played at the court of sixth ranked Canberra Capitals (12-10). Canberra Capitals smashed Bendigo Spirit 77-52 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Canberra Capitals. Bendigo Spirit managed to win second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bendigo Spirit to just 4 points in third quarter. The former international center Marianna Tolo (196-89) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Abigail Wehrung (177-95) chipped in 18 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Canadian power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser) with 8 points and 13 rebounds and guard Heather Oliver (178-87, college: USC) scored 12 points. Canberra Capitals moved-up to fifth place. Bendigo Spirit at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Canberra Capitals will meet higher ranked Townsville Fire (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bendigo Spirit will play against the league's second-placed Perth Lynx and hope to secure a win.
