Second Stage Round 9: Gorizont - Sozh-GGU 99-36

The game between Top Four teams took place in Minsk. First ranked host Gorizont (14-3) smashed 4th placed Sozh-GGU (6-10) 99-36. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sozh-GGU to just 6 points in first quarter. Gorizont dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sozh-GGU's 28. Gorizont forced 20 Sozh-GGU turnovers and outrebounded them 45-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Sozh-GGU's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (181-86) who scored 27 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). French point guard Najat Ouardad (152-90, college: Auburn, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Tatsiana Rebianchuk (186-88) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yulya Haponava (185-94) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-3 record. Sozh-GGU lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Gorizont will meet at home Olimpia GrGAU (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sozh-GGU will play against the league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
