There was an upset when much higher ranked Comunicaciones (18-7) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Obera TC (8-16) 80-74 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 25-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American center Arkeem Joseph (206-94, college: Texas A&M Int.) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Martin Gandoy (194-91) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Cameroonian power forward Gaston Essengue (203-83, college: UNLV) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Nicolas Lauria (202-88) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Obera TC maintains sixth place with 8-16 record, which they share with Petr.Argentino. Loser Comunicaciones keeps the second position with seven games lost. Obera TC will face league's leader Union SF in Santa Fe in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Comunicaciones will play on the road against the league's second-placed San Isidro in San Francisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
