Regular Season Round 33: Ferrocarril - GECR Indalo 99-81

There was no surprise in Buenos Aires where 5th ranked GECR Indalo (16-17) was defeated by second ranked Ferrocarril (21-11) 99-81 on Monday. Ferrocarril shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Spanish guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) chipped in 14 points and 11 assists. The best for the losing side was Juan-Manuel Rivero (191-85) with 15 points and the former international Carlos Schattmann (193-87) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ferrocarril maintains second place with 21-11 record having four points less than leader San Lorenzo. Loser GECR Indalo dropped to the fourth position with 17 games lost. Ferrocarril will face Instituto (#3) in Cordoba in the next round, which may be the game of the day. GECR Indalo will play on the road against Argentino in Junin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
