Regular Season Round 17: Elitzur Holon - Hapoel Z/MM 61-86

Bottom-ranked Hapoel Z/MM managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses. This time newly promoted Hapoel Z/MM outleveled sixth-ranked Elitzur Holon 86-61. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 25-point difference proves that Hapoel Z/MM was well-prepared to that game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Holon's 42. Hapoel Z/MM forced 20 Elitzur Holon turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Elitzur Holon's players. The game was also dominated by American players. Swingman Alex Harden (180-93, college: Wichita St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Center Britany Miller (192-87, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hapoel Z/MM's coach Nimrod Maytal felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA) added 19 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Elitzur Holon. Hapoel Z/MM (4-11) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Hap.Petah Tikva. Elitzur Holon lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with H.R. Le-Zion. Hapoel Z/MM will play against higher ranked Maccabi Raanana (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elitzur Holon will play against Ramat Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
