Regular Season Round 20: Flamengo - Mogi 96-87

Date: February 14, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Rio de Janeiro where 6th ranked Mogi (11-8) was defeated by second ranked Flamengo (13-5) 96-87. Flamengo had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (203-83) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) supported him with 20 points and 6 assists. Even 29 points by naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Mogi. The former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-5 record behind leader Brasilia. Defending champion Mogi keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Flamengo will play against Campo Mourao (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Mogi will play against Macae and hopes to get back on the winning track.
