Regular Season Round 27: Al Sadd - Al Wakrah 80-96

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Al Wakrah (6-10) beat 9th ranked Al Sadd (4-12) in Doha 96-80. The game without a history. Al Wakrah led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Al Wakrah players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty) who scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American-Nigerian forward Olatunbo Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) chipped in a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Ayeni is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Five Al Sadd players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Al Wakrah. They moved-up to fifth place. Al Sadd at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Al Wakrah's next round opponent will be Qatar Sports Club (#7) in Doha. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Shamal.
