Regular Season Round 22: Jurmala - Barons Riga 71-76

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Jurmala (10-14) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Barons Riga (10-10) 76-71 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 17-8. But Jurmala won second period 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barons Riga made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Jurmala was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Tyler Larson (190-91, college: S.Dakota) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Davis Zonne (184-96) chipped in 17 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Ugis Pinete (194-91) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Barons Riga moved-up to fifth place. Loser Jurmala dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Barons Riga will have a break next round. Jurmala will play at home against the league's leader Ventspils (#1) and hope to win that game.
