Rather expected game when 13th ranked Kymis (5-13) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Aiolos Trikallon (7-11) 76-58 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 49-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Lithuanian Gilvydas Biruta (203-91, college: Rhode Island) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: Long Beach St.) supported him with 11 points and 5 assists. Aiolos Trikallon's coach Giannis Kastritis used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Kymis. Center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Kymis players scored in double figures. Aiolos Trikallon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lavrio and Promitheas. Kymis lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras. Aiolos Trikallon will meet at home higher ranked AGOR (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kymis will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
