A very close game took place in Canberra between Adelaide Lightning and Canberra Capitals. Eighth ranked Adelaide Lightning (3-21) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Canberra Capitals (13-11). Adelaide Lightning managed to escape with a 2-point win 76-74 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Canberra Capitals. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-13. But Canberra Capitals won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Colleen Planeta (188-88, college: Point Loma) who led the winners and scored 29 points. Swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. The former international center Marianna Tolo (196-89) came up with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Canberra Capitals in the defeat. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Adelaide Lightning maintains eighth place with 3-21 record. Loser Canberra Capitals keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bendigo.
