Regular Season Round 24: Chartres - St Vallier 81-72

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked UB Chartres (11-13) beat at home higher ranked Saint Vallier (11-13) 81-72. Saint Vallier was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 28-13 third quarter run of UB Chartres. They made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Saint Vallier helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-British power forward Tafari Toney (202-86) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Olivier Romain (180-88) contributed with 9 points and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four UB Chartres players scored in double figures. American point guard Omar Strong (175-90, college: Texas Southern) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Steffon Bradford (198-77, college: Nebraska) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Saint Vallier. Saint Vallier's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UB Chartres moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Saint Vallier. Saint Vallier lost fifth consecutive game. UB Chartres' next round opponent will be Union Rennes (#14) on the road where they are favorite.
