Regular Season Round 24: Gipuzkoa GBC - Caceres 81-70

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Gipuzkoa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gipuzkoa defeated 13th ranked Caceres Basket in San Sebastian 81-70. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. Caceres Basket was better in third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gipuzkoa dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Caceres Basket's 28. It was a good game for American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St., agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Gipuzkoa's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (208-90, college: De Paul) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Sergio Perez (205-79) added 11 points in the effort for Caceres Basket. Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Caceres Basket at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Prat. Caceres Basket will play next round against Melilla Baloncesto trying to get back on the winning streak. Gipuzkoa will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Palencia Baloncesto on the road.
