Regular Season Round 38: Sendai 89ers - Shiga L-Stars 75-102

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (8-30) outleveled on the road 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (10-28) 102-75 on Friday. The game without a history. Shiga L-Stars led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Shiga L-Stars had a 35-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Center Samba Faye (205-87) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Sendai 89ers' coach Takeo Mabashi gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth position with 8-30 record which they share with defeated Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 28 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
