Regular Season Round 19: Aros Leon - Oviedo 83-67

LF2 top team - Aros Leon (18-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Oviedo (7-12) 83-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Oviedo. The game was mostly controlled by Aros Leon. Oviedo managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 6 points in third quarter. Aros Leon dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Oviedo's 26. Aros Leon forced 20 Oviedo turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Marta Canella (178-95) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Itsaso Conde (185-96) helped adding 15 points and 13 rebounds. Five Aros Leon players scored in double figures. Aros Leon's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Canadian guard Mariah Nunes (178-93, college: Ryerson) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) scored 7 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Aros Leon maintains first place with 18-1 record. Oviedo at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Ensino and Promete. Aros Leon are looking forward to face Maquinaria Ensino (#10) in Lugo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oviedo will play at home against Segle XXI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
