Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Ponce Valladolid (4-15) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Barcelona (11-8) 61-57 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 35-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ponce Valladolid was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Laura Lopez (171-85) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points. Forward Ana Alonso (187-90) helped adding 12 points. At the losing side American guard Alyesha Lovett (183-93, college: Cincinnati) responded with 17 points and center Alejandra De-La-Fuente (193-88) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ponce Valladolid's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barcelona moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Ponce Valladolid keeps the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Barcelona will face Real Celta Vigo (#8) at home in the next round.
