Regular Season Round 19: Cortegada - ADBA 66-47

There was no surprise in Vilagarcia Arousa where 13th ranked ADBA (5-14) was outplayed by third ranked Cortegada (12-5) 66-47 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cortegada. ADBA was better in fourth quarter 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded ADBA 46-31 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Cortegada especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by ADBA's players. It was a great evening for Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Cape Verdean-American guard Vandell Andrade (179-93, college: Le Moyne) helped adding 9 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Cortegada's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side French forward Rudiane Eduardo (185-93, college: UTEP) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alicia Alonso (169-94) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Cortegada have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-5 record having five points less than leader Aros Leon. Loser ADBA dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Cortegada will face league's leader Aros Leon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ADBA will play against GDKO Bizkaia (#7) and hope to win that game.
