Regular Season Round 38: Toshiba BT - Osaka Evessa 81-84

Important game to mention about took place in Kanagawa. Third ranked Osaka Evessa (19-18) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Toshiba Thunders (31-6) 84-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. The guests were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 9-point deficit before their 31-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. Osaka Evessa shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) contributed with 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Osaka Evessa maintains third position with 19-18 record having twelve points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Toshiba Thunders at the other side still keep top place with six games lost. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toshiba Thunders will play again at home against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
