Regular Season Round 20: Villarrobledo - Quintanar 65-62

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Villarrobledo (10-10) edged at home 8th ranked Quintanar (10-9) 65-62 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 17-5. But Quintanar won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villarrobledo dominated on the defensive end, holding Quintanar to just 5 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Bo Barnes (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: Haylett Sports) who scored 21 points. Center Artur Alaminos (205-91) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Villarrobledo's coach Manuel Jimenez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Cuban point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87) produced 21 points and American forward Martin Smith (196, college: Lipscomb) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Villarrobledo maintains tenth position in Group B with 10-10 record. Loser Quintanar dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. Villarrobledo will face Torrelodones (#14) in Madrid in the next round.
