Regular Season Round 19: Pordenone - Vicenza 46-68

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Pordenone (3-14) was crushed at home by second ranked Vicenza (15-2) 68-46 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vicenza. Pordenone was better in second period 12-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pordenone to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Pordenone 35-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Power forward Giuditta Nicolodi (185-95) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (183-92) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Israeli Elena Castello (182-98) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Sara Madera (186-0) added 13 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Pordenone's coach Renato Nani gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Vicenza maintains second place in A2 with 15-2 record having 2 victories less than leader Sesto SG. Loser Pordenone keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Vicenza will face Ferrara (#4) at home in the next round. Pordenone will play against Viterbo (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
