Top ranked Chantada (13-4) recorded its fourth loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Ponferrada CDP (10-7) 85-76. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 26-21 last quarter charge of Chantada cut the lead to 85-76 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Chantada 35-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Javier Garcia (195-92) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Center David Guerra (207-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Miguel Caballero (182-92) added 14 points in the effort for Chantada. Five Chantada players scored in double figures. Ponferrada CDP moved-up to sixth place in Group A-B, which they share with Naron. Chantada at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Leon. Ponferrada CDP will play against Seis do Nadal (#14) in Vigo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chantada will play on the road against Calidus Gal.COB (#4) in Ourense and hopes to get back on the winning track.
