Regular Season Round 19: Olimpico 64 - Valencia 62-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 14th ranked Olimpico 64's (2-17) home loss to thirteenth ranked Valencia (5-14) 62-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-62. Valencia dominated on the defensive end, holding Olimpico 64 to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Olimpico 64 35-20 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Serbian Branka Lukovic (190-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-94) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ana Arteche responded with 15 points and Beatriz Parada (179-86) scored 9 points and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Valencia moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with ADBA and IF Air Europa. Olimpico 64 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Valencia will face higher ranked Promete (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpico 64 will play against Picken Claret (#11) and hope to win that game.
