Regular Season Round 19: Espoo United - Porvoon Tarmo 111-71

Very expected game when 6th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (10-12) was crushed on the road by second ranked Espoo United (16-6) 111-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Espoo United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Porvoon Tarmo's 24. They outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 48-34 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espoo United looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Porvoon Tarmo's players. Forward Lasse Gummerus (200-97) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. Four Espoo United players scored in double figures. Espoo United's coach Ville Neva felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Cameron Clark (190-93, college: Southwestern, KS) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains second place in Division with 16-6 record having just two points less than leader TuNMKY. Loser Porvoon Tarmo keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Espoo United will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Porvoon Tarmo will play against ToPo (#3) and hope to secure a win.
