Regular Season Round 14: Otsuka A. - Tokyo Big Blue 117-71

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#3) and Tokyo Big Blue (#9). Otsuka A. (16-8) smashed visiting Tokyo Big Blue (2-22) by 46 points 117-71. Otsuka A. dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 30. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 54-18 including a 37-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Otsuka A. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Gao Shanlong (171-93) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Otsuka A. maintains third position with 16-8 record having nine points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Tokyo Big Blue lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Otsuka A.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo HT.
