Regular Season Round 17: Mgzavrebi - Olimpi 73-79

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#7) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Mgzavrebi was defeated at home 73-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mgzavrebi. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 26-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Olimpi forced 27 Mgzavrebi turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Nick Schlitzer (198-92, college: Philadelphia) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Revaz Rogava (191-93) chipped in 21 points and 4 steals. Four Olimpi players scored in double figures. Olimpi's coach Leonid Ivatin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Corey Allen (185-92, college: S.Florida) produced 25 points and Avtandili Lominashvili (204-92) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Olimpi maintains seventh place with 5-11 record. Mgzavrebi at the other side stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Olimpi are looking forward to face league's second-placed Kutaisi on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mgzavrebi's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Dinamo Tbilisi.
