Regular Season Round 38: Sendai 89ers - Shiga L-Stars 95-72

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Sendai 89ers (10-28) outscored at home 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (8-30) 95-72 on Saturday. The game without a history. Sendai 89ers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 42. The best player for the winners was American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sendai 89ers maintains sixth position with 10-28 record which they share with defeated Shiga L-Stars. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the sixth place with 30 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
