Regular Season Round 19: Ferrara - Viterbo 68-38
Date: February 18, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Viterbo (4-13) was outplayed on the road by fifth ranked Ferrara (12-5) 68-38 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ferrara led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 5 points in first quarter. Ferrara held Viterbo to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Ferrara had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Elena Ramo (185-94) fired 20 points for the winners. Swingman Virginia Furlani (182-99) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Giulia Ciavarella (181-97) produced 8 points and 6 rebounds and center Adriana Cutrupi (188-96) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferrara moved-up to fourth place in A2. Loser Viterbo keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Ferrara will face league's second-placed Vicenza on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Viterbo will play against Pordenone (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
