Regular Season Round 5: Okzhetpes - Irtysh 77-48

An interesting game for Okzhetpes (2-8) which hosted in Kokshetay second-ranked Irtysh (3-7). Third ranked Okzhetpes had an easy win 77-48. The game without a history. Okzhetpes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 22. They outrebounded Irtysh 32-20 including a 22-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Okzhetpes players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Irtysh's players. Russian forward Tatiana Grigoryeva (178-90) stepped up and scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and center Tolmagay Ermagambetova (176-95) chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Okzhetpes players scored in double figures. Swingman Daria Koroleva (179-88) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Viktoriia Shmatova (172-87) scored 16 points. Irtysh's coach Evgeniy Ovsiannikov already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains third place with 2-8 record having eight points less than leader Astana Tigers. Irtysh at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Okzhetpes will again play against league's second-placed Irtysh in Pavlodar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Irtysh will play on the road against the league's leader Astana Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
