Regular Season Round 18: Montbrison - Roche 78-70

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Roche (15-3) against eighth ranked Montbrison (8-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Roche was defeated by Montbrison in a tough game in Montbrison 70-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Roche. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 14-11 Roche's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 78-70 at the end of the game. Montbrison forced 20 Roche turnovers. Ukrainian power forward Olga Maznichenko (187-91, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cameroonian Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese center Bernadette Ngoyisa (195-82) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Roche players scored in double figures. Montbrison moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toulouse and SIG. Roche at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Montbrison will play against bottom-ranked CFBB (#14) in Paris in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Roche will play at home against the league's leader Avenir (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
