Regular Season Round 18: Landes - Nantes 87-73

Very expected game when 7th ranked Nantes Reze (8-10) lost to third ranked Basket Landes (13-5) in Mont de Marsan 73-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Basket Landes. Nantes Reze managed to win third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Basket Landes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Nantes Reze's 40. Basket Landes forced 20 Nantes Reze turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International Celine Dumerc (169-82) notched 20 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and Spanish swingman Queralt Casas (177-92) supported her with 15 points and 4 assists. Basket Landes' coach Olivier Lafargue used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by Canadian forward Katherine Plouffe (190-92, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Nantes Reze. German Margret Skuballa (186-87) added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Basket Landes maintains third position with 13-5 record behind leader Lattes Montp. Loser Nantes Reze keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Basket Landes will meet Nice (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Nantes Reze will play against Lyon and hope to secure a win.
