Regular Season Round 24: Palma - FC Barcelona II 63-86

Bottom-ranked Barca II managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked Palma in S'Arenal 86-63. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 23-point difference suggests that Barca II is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Palma. The game without a history. Barca II led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Palma's 24. They outrebounded Palma 41-27 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Ukrainian power forward Volodymyr Gerun (208-94, college: Portland) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall, agency: Duran International) supported him with 26 points. Four Barca II players scored in double figures. Barca II's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points by point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) did not help to save the game for Palma. Center Victor Serrano (211-89) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Barca II maintains eighteenth position with 5-19 record. Palma at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Barca II's next round opponent will be higher ranked Araberri (#11) in Vitoria-Gasteiz and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
