Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Viola RC (6-16) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Rieti (10-12) 104-96 on Sunday. Rieti shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Viola RC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American Dalton Pepper (196-90, college: Temple) scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Argentinian point guard Marcos Casini (188-80) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Rieti players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian swingman Agustin Fabi (199-91) scored 25 points. Rieti maintains twelfth position in A2 with 10-12 record. Loser Viola RC keeps the fifteenth place with 16 games lost. Rieti will face higher ranked Mens Sana 1871 (#8) in Siena in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Viola RC will play at home against Eurobasket Roma (#10) and hope to win that game.
