Regular Season Round 15: PAOK - Athinaikos 62-64

The most exciting game of round 15 in the A1 took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked PAOK (8-7) to third ranked Athinaikos (10-4) 64-62 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of PAOK. It was a great shooting night for Athinaikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. It was a great evening for guard Anthoula Balta (174-87) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Vassiliki Daskalopoulou (178-84) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Athinaikos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Athinaikos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-4 record having six points less than leader Olympiacos. PAOK at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Niki Lefkadas and Panathlitikos. Athinaikos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Terpsithea (#12) in Glyfadas in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
