Regular Season Round 39: Akita NH - Yokohama BC 74-68

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Yokohama BC (14-24) lost on the road to fifth ranked Akita Happinets (11-27) 74-68 on Sunday. Yokohama BC trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 26-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-74 at the end of the game. It was a good game for Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Seiya Ando (184-92) contributed with 5 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International center Pape Faye (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Yokohama BC. The victory was the third consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain fifth place with 11-27 record which they share with defeated Yokohama BC. Yokohama BC lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 24 games lost. Akita Happinets will face higher ranked Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yokohama BC will play against the league's second-placed Sanen Neophoenix and hope to win that game.
