Regular Season Round 28: Al Arabi - Al Ahli 75-49

Date: February 19, 2017
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#4) and Al Ahli (#6). Al Arabi (11-5) smashed visiting Al Ahli (5-11) by 26 points 75-49. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Al Ahli was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Al Ahli to just 7 points in second quarter. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Al Ahli's 26. They outrebounded Al Ahli 49-27 including a 38-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and Gueye Momar Talla (-97) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by international point guard Abdulrahman Al-Muftah (181-94) did not help to save the game for Al Ahli. Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Al Arabi have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Al Ahli at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena El Jaysh.
