Regular Season Round 40: Iwate Big Bulls - Nishinomiya S. 53-65

Rather predictable result when second ranked Nishinomiya S. (26-12) defeated on the road 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (9-29) 65-53 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 42-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Nishinomiya S. made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Iwate Big Bulls turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) who added 22 points during the contest. Nishinomiya S.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Nishinomiya S. maintains second position with 26-12 record having just two points less than leader Gunma. Iwate Big Bulls lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 29 games lost. Nishinomiya S. will face Cyberdyne IR (#5) in Tsukuba in the next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play on the road against Orange Vikings in Matsuyama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
