Regular Season Round 16: Gimle Pride - Bergen 66-40

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bergen: Gimle Pride (#4) and Bergen (#6). Gimle Pride (5-8) smashed visiting Bergen (2-14) by 26 points 66-40. The game without a history. Gimle Pride led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bergen to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Gimle Pride dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Bergen's 24. Forward Birte Hegrenaes (177-88) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Spanish guard Angela Alvarez (168-91) chipped in 14 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Gimle Pride's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Kaia Brendesaeter (169-99) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Sigrid Hardie (163-94) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Gimle Pride have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 5-8 record. Bergen lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Gimle Pride are looking forward to face league's second-placed Ulriken in Bergen in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Bergen will have a break next round.
