Regular Season Round 13: Moutahed - Champville 91-90

Eighth-ranked Champville (4-9) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Al Moutahed (8-6) in Tripoli on Sunday. Al Moutahed managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Champville won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Champville outrebounded Al Moutahed 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. American guard Dewarick Spencer (192-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) stepped up and scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: De Paul) chipped in 28 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Darian Townes (208-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Moutahed moved-up to fourth place. Champville at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Sagesse. Al Moutahed are looking forward to face Louaize (#5) in Zouk in the next round. Champville will play at home against Sagesse and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
