The most exciting game of round 5 in the UBA League took place in Kondhwa. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Bengaluru (0-3) to leader Pune P. (3-0) 96-94 on Monday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-94. Pune P. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Pierre Newton (196-93, college: Minn.-Duluth) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international power forward Amritpal Singh (212-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. International guard Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (192-91) answered with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and American guard Chris Solomon (191-90, college: Kaiser) added 18 points and 7 assists in the effort for Bengaluru. Five Bengaluru players scored in double figures. Pune P. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record. Bengaluru at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
