Regular Season Round 13: Azad - Kashan 81-74

There was no surprise in Tehran where 7th ranked Kashan (7-11) was defeated by third ranked Azad (12-6) 81-74. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Azad forced 20 Kashan turnovers. Kashan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman JP Prince (203-87, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Joseph Jones (206-86, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Azad's coach Farzad Kouhian allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Croatian center Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and international swingman Mohammad Shahrian (193) added 21 points in the effort for Kashan. Azad maintains third place with 12-6 record having four points less than leader Petrochimi. Kashan lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Azad will play against league's leader Petrochimi in Bandar Imam in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kashan will play at home against Army (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
